Sarah J. Zielsdorf MD, MS - LDN 2023

Above all, health is not simply the absence of disease, but is living a life of passionate vitality. Dr. Sarah Zielsdorf attended Miami University (in Ohio—not Florida), where she received a BA in Microbiology, minors in molecular biology/Jewish studies, and a concentration in oboe performance. She earned an MS in Public Health, Microbiology, and Emerging Infectious Diseases from The George Washington University in Washington, DC, and her MD at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine in Maywood, IL. Dr. Z completed her residency at Loyola University Medical Center and the Edward Hines Jr. VA Medical Center. She is an Institute for Functional Medicine Certified Practitioner, and board-certified in Internal Medicine.

Dr. Z is proud to serve patients worldwide, having quickly attained her reputation as a skilled diagnostician, microbiologist, and passionate teacher. She serves as a medical and research advisor and education director to the LDN Research Trust, created the 2020-2022 LDN Guides, and is an author featured in The LDN Book, Volume 2 and 3. Dr. Zielsdorf has been a speaker at international LDN Conferences since 2017.

She values the transformative power of the patient-physician relationship, and understands that every individual is biochemically and genetically unique. As an autoimmune thyroid patient herself, Dr. Z walks the walk to thrive with chronic illness. Dr. Zielsdorf refines her craft on a daily basis, learns from her patients, and is never satisfied with her knowledge base. She truly believes in the art of medicine, which keeps her relentlessly searching for answers.

Dr. Zielsdorf is the owner and Medical Director of Motivated Medicine, an innovative consultative medical practice in West Chicago, Illinois. The Motivated Medicine approach that Dr. Z developed (and continues to evolve) is rooted in Translational Medicine, which bridges the gap between all of the current research going on in hospitals and laboratories worldwide, and the direct care you receive from your physician. It is the style of practice that is dedicated to ensuring that the newest research (which usually takes up to two decades to change the standard of care) reaches the patient. Dr. Zielsdorf’s open-minded approach to treatment is informed by data, advanced diagnostic testing, whole-body wellness, tried-and-true “conventional” medicine, and so much more.
